Download the 12News appOn Friday, Feb. 27, Mesa police executed a search warrant at the business. Witnesses said the parking lot was filled with detectives and members of the department’s SWAT team. Several men and women were escorted out of the building during the operation, though police have not announced any arrests.Mesa police confirmed a criminal investigation remains active and ongoing but declined to provide further details.By Tuesday, Cozy Spa’s storefront was closed and cleared out. The front entryway was empty, with only a phone number posted for customers. When 12News called the number listed on the door, a woman directed us by text message to a different location about five minutes away — another strip mall near Broadway Road and Lindsey Road.At the second location, a woman who answered the door declined to be seen on camera and said she did not speak English. When asked if that business provided more than just massages, she said no. The woman provided a phone number for the business owner, identified as a man named Mac.In a phone conversation, the man denied any connection between the new business and Cozy Spa, despite the phone number on Cozy Spa’s door directing customers to the new location. When asked whether the new business provided only legitimate massage services, he responded, “Correct, nothing more.”Back at the original Cozy Spa location, multiple men attempted to enter the closed storefront for two hours in the middle of the day, appearing confused that the business was no longer operating.Mesa police said they are aware of what 12News uncovered regarding the apparent relocation. Because the case remains under investigation, the department said it could not comment further.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=videoseriesWatch 12News for free You can now watch 12News content anytime, anywhere thanks to the 12+ app!
