Trump mercilessly mocked as he’s fact checked over ‘false’ comment about US economy

When it comes to the US economy, viewers have not missed a beat. So when the POTUS gave his verdict on the DOW, people had plenty to say about Donald Trump

Sharp-witted viewers have ridiculed Donald Trump for a comment he made about the economy live on air earlier this week.

Speaking on February 12, Donald Trump referred to the Dow Jones Industrial Average when he said, “The DOW is now over 50,000,” but his comment sparked a huge debate on social media. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is an equity index. It tracks the performance of thirty large public firms quoted on the NYSE and NASDAQ in the USA.

When a video clip of Trump making the remark was shared on X, people were quick to comment as one said, “Fact check: false,” and another hit out, “It is false, post the source, transparency first.”

Someone else mocked, “he is always tripping bro,” and a fourth person asked, “if you say so, got receipts?”

However, not everyone thought he was way off as one Trump supporter said, “I love watching how triggered you get by America winning. You simply cant control yourself.”

Meanwhile, there was more drama in the MAGA camp this week as tension emerged with Karoline Leavitt making a key CNN decision..

It came after CNN’s Kaitlan Collins’ appearance on the Absolutely Not with Heather McMahan podcast, where she recounted an interaction involving President Donald Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Trump.

Kaitlan shared with host Heather McMahan, “We were in Saudi Arabia, and we were on a foreign trip with the President, and he came in with all the other leaders, including the Saudi Crown Prince. They famously do not like the media there. And to put it lightly, I asked a shouted question to President Trump, who had seen me when the US press came in, he didn’t answer, which is, I mean, that’s how it works.

“You shout questions, they either answer, or they don’t. It’s their prerogative. And then the world leaders left the room. The Saudi Royal Guard kind of freaked out because I dared to ask a question. And they’re not used to that there, because they don’t have a free press,” The 33-year-old, who was previously called ‘stupid and nasty’ by Trump, said.

She continued: “And so they came up, and they said, Okay, well, you can’t come into the next event, which was like, two minutes later, and I was like, that’s how this works. I go into the US press, and they were like, well, ‘You’re not coming in.

“And I could see them like, whispering and pointing about me. And some of the younger White House staff who were with the press weren’t really sure what to do. And they went to Karoline, and to her credit, she said, ‘No, Kaitlan’s coming in with the rest of the US press,’ and we went in.”

Kaitlan continued by emphasizing that Karoline’s response was “important,” observing, “Especially when you’re kind of the U.S. contingent abroad, and we don’t do things as they do in Saudi Arabia.”

Following the broadcast, a segment capturing that particular exchange was posted on Instagram and subsequently reshared by Karoline, 28, on her own Instagram Story with the caption: “True story!”

This acknowledgment might surprise many, considering her boss, President Trump, has repeatedly targeted the CNN correspondent. During a CNN town hall in 2023, throughout the GOP presidential primaries, the 79-year-old branded Kaitlan a “nasty person” for questioning him about the federal probe into his management of classified materials.

Later, in an extended post on Truth Social in December, Trump labeled Kaitlan as “stupid and nasty” for pressing him about his divisive White House ballroom makeover. Kaitlan swiftly responded to his criticism by clarifying that her inquiry was “technically” regarding his warnings toward Venezuela.

On February 3, Trump targeted Kaitlan once more, but this occasion was face-to-face. While presenting the White House press corps with a new red-and-white baseball cap bearing the slogan, “America is back,” Trump remarked, “Look, CNN is thrilled,” before continuing, “She never smiles. Someday I’ll see her smile,” in reference to Kaitlan.
